While sitting at the campfire this summer (1998) we could hear the coyote about 10:00 o'clock. It sounded as though there were pups in the group. They do seem to be getting more abundant in the last few years.

Most summer nights just after it gets dark, I can hear coyotoe's in the valley. The neighbor's dogs always seem to respond with their own barking.
