Green Heron- Butorides virescens

Family- Ardeidae (Herons, Bitterns)

Description:

Size- Small

Color-Dark with yellowish or bright orange legs. Neck and head are chestnut color. Crown is black with a small crest. Dark greenish gray back and wings.

Habitat-Ponds, streams, marshes and bays.

Eggs-3-6 light aqua eggs.

Nest-Flat and flimsy twigs and sticks in brush near water.
